UNHEARD: An Online Charity Concert is scheduled to stream live on Vine Music Studio's Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/vinemusicstudiosg) and Instagram (http://www.instagram.com/vinemusicstudiosg) on Saturday, 18th July at 9PM SGT. This fundraising concert is in support of local charity Daughters Of Tomorrow (DOT), a non-profit organization in their Power Up Online initiative which empowers underprivileged women through career training and provision of technology during this COVID-19 crisis.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to Daughters Of Tomorrow's Power Up Online campaign and their beneficiaries. As an IPC Registered charity, all donations to DOT are 250% tax-deductible.
Vine Music Studio, in collaboration with homegrown label Where Are The Fruits are organizing this livestream broadcast which features local and international female singer-songwriters performing their original works. The lineup comprises Annette Lee, Miss Lou, Cheryl K, Eva Sita, Marian Carmel, Hien, Hubbabubbas, SLAYN, Noa Angell, Amni Musfirah and RENE, with special appearance from fitness entrepreneur Tyen Rasif. It will be hosted by our co-founder Rachel Lim. This digital special includes female artists and performances from all around the world, showing their support and coming together to raise funds to support the underprivileged women in Singapore.
Daughters Of Tomorrow started work in 2014 and has helped over 800 women and enabled more than 250 women into employment. DOT's beneficiaries are women aged 20 to 60 from low-income families (surviving on $200 to $500 per capita per month), mostly living in government-subsidized rental flats, and facing multiple stressors in their families. Through skills-training, job-bridging and support programs, DOT helps their beneficiaries to regain confidence in themselves and gain a social support network that aids them through their difficult times.
In response to the global pandemic, UNHEARD aims to raise money for DOT's first online community learning initiative, the Power Up Online program, which continues to engage with the beneficiaries by providing technology access, career skills building, bridging and empowering courses so that they are able to find employment and return to the workforce while in the time of COVID-19.
Many low-income families in the Singaporean community are in crisis: - Many have lost their jobs and do not have an income to feed their families - They do not have laptops or computers for work-from-home jobs or home-based learning - They do not have a broadband or WiFi connection
DOT’s women want to get back on their feet and they aim to give them a boost by allowing them to safely continue with their job readiness training through Power Up Online. This will enable them to quickly find employment in essential services, especially now that the nation has reached the end of the circuit breaker. The cost of piloting and executing this new initiative comes up to a significant amount of $750 per woman.
DOT asks for Singaporeans to consider donating their solidarity payout, or a percentage of it, to support their Power Up Online program. In addition to developing the course curriculum, the amount that is raised will go to: - Providing mobile top-ups worth $30 to each woman over 3 months upon request - Sourcing for and arranging for the safe delivery of laptops that can be loaned to women - Training online mentors and befrienders to support women in their back-to-work journey
